A Finer Pork Product.

Wait! I can sell ICE to Eskimos! It's simple really. I put superglue inside their parkas,
"stick" their heads in their hoods, fly them to southern Arizona in August on a
non-air conditioned flight, and then offer them the low, low, discount price of $5 for 3
ice cubes in an 8 oz. glass --- no extra charge for adding some water.
More than likely, I would get a few takers. However, now that I pencil out the costs
versus the revenue... Eek!!! This reminds me of Internet Marketing! And I was told
it would be free! Otherwise, I would have worked it out before I ended up in
Arizona!
If this is how you've felt at times, you are not alone. In fact, you are not alone.
There is a HUGE spider dangling just above your head right now!
I haven't been around the net as long as some, but I've seen enough to know that there is
far more advertising methods out there that don't work than there are ones that do.
For example, I've seen many deals promising FREE, (you always have to capitalize FREE, you
know) ads blasted out to huge numbers. No spamming is required, they advertise for you,
all FREE, nothing more to do.
It sounds excellent. So, you check it out. By the time you get done reading the 7 page
intro, you find out that all you have to do is post your ad! They will do it all for you!
Great! All you have to do is promote them and your ad will be seen, too! Wonderful!
Suddenly, you remember playing 'piggyback' with that 85 pound kid back when you were in
the 3rd grade. You were the 'piggy', and he rode on your back. At the end, you were tired,
and he was talking about all the things he was able to see while being up high.
Hmmm. This is starting to sound like flying Eskimos to Arizona to sell them ice cubes
again.
Of course, there's always the free classifieds. I mean the FREE classifieds. They are
great for getting your ad, or at least your email address, out to the world.
Then there's the FFA pages, where ever they are. I know you have to BLAST to them, though,
so they must be a fair distance.
Of course, you can always spam, but hasn't every affiliate program you've joined told you
not to do that?
So, what else is there? I only know 12 people. I can't market my Internet businesses to
them, eight of them don't even have a computer. Of the four that do, one only uses it for
his kids, two are anti-Internet, and the other one is the gal who signed me up on all
this.
What is left out there that works?
Opt-in advertising is the best way to get people to actually read what you have to say.
Email list providers and email extractor programs talk about their addresses being for
targeted individuals? Ezine advertising is at targeted individuals. Why? Because targeted
individuals are what we really need.
However, even though bulk mail or spam can work, let me introduce you to a finer pork
product. If bulk mail is spam, then ezines are a delicately prepared pork steak.
Ezines utilize the same contact arena as spamming --- email. The difference is, ezines are
welcome at the Inbox Restaurant.
It's kind of like eating out at a fast food joint or a high class place. Now, note the
differences. The fast food chains bring in more money than the individual high class
places, but that's the businesses. What about the customers?
Do you want to live on the average income of the fast food visitor, or the average income
of the steak house patron?
The main point being, sell your business, not your promoter's business, or your email
address, or your link in the midst of 10,000 others.
Also, put it in front of people who are in the middle of reading, not already hovering
over the delete button.
