4 Ways to Increase Affiliate Program Results
If banner ads seem not to be working for your website, you surely have considered using
affiliate programs from the best companies in your market. Now the truth is that, just
like banner ads, affiliate programs will only work when they're targeted - if your website
is about computers, don't join a supermarket's affiliate program, instead link to a book
on the subject from amazon or some other book shop... Obvious. In this article, we'll see
four ways of increasing the results you get from affiliate programs.
Here we go...
o Cookies
First of all, make sure the program you're signing up for keeps a cookie on each visitor's
computer telling who referred him/her. It has been proved that visitors rarely buy on
their first visit to an online shop, so this will ensure that you still get credit for
referring someone. If they don't offer this very basic feature, forget about them.
o Buy the product
You have to buy the product if you want to review it. I know most people don't even buy
their affiliate's products, but if you do so, you'll be ensuring it's quality, and
increasing the chances someone will buy it. If not even you buy it, then who would?
o Trust
It's very important to get your visitor's e-mail addresses (always with their permission),
and if possible their names too. This is very powerful for personalization. After you have
their e-mail address, you can set up a (free) E-Mail mini- course (laser targeted to your
audience), and send them a chapter of your course once a week for at least a month (4
chapters), the longer your course lasts, the better... This will make them see you as a
pro, and dramatically increase your results, trust me...
o Information
Make a mini site with a review about each of your affiliate's products. After all the
E-Mails you've sent them, they'll trust you a lot more than the retailer. It'll be easier
to do this if you have bought the product!
Use these techniques and I'm sure you'll get a lot more response in your affiliate
programs. It's that simple!
